Chandigarh, March 26
Elaborate arrangements and tight security measures have been put in place by the UT Administration for the air show scheduled to be held at Sukhna Lake on March 27 and 28. This information was shared by Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav.
He informed that during the two-day event, UT Chief Secretary H. Rajesh Prasad will be the chief guest on March 27, while Punjab Governor and UT Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria will attend as the chief guest on March 28.
Considering the expected large turnout, seating arrangements have been made for around 10,000 spectators. Entry to the venue will be restricted to ticket holders only, who will be issued wristbands indicating their designated seating zones.
To ensure smooth movement of visitors, the city has been divided into seven zones, and around 300 buses of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) will be deployed. Private vehicles will not be allowed to reach the event venue. Separate counters (2–3) will also be set up for walk-in ticket holders.
For security reasons, children below six years of age will not be permitted at the event. Only transparent water bottles will be allowed inside the venue. Sukhna Lake will remain closed to the general public for both days due to the air show.
To handle emergency situations, NDRF teams, life jackets, and other essential facilities have been arranged. Special arrangements have also been made for around 600 school students to ensure they can safely enjoy the air show.
Adequate arrangements for drinking water and washrooms have been made at the venue. For media coverage, around 150 journalists will be provided transportation through two dedicated buses. The event will also be live-streamed on YouTube.
Temporary traffic diversions have been implemented to ensure smooth traffic management. Police personnel, fire brigade teams, and other security staff will remain deployed at the venue. A ‘Lost and Found’ center will also be set up for public convenience.
The administration has appealed to the public to follow all guidelines and arrive on time to enjoy this unique air show.
