Chandigarh, April 2
Addressing the media today regarding the blast at the BJP office in Chandigarh, Punjab BJP Working President Ashwani Sharma said that the attackers had thrown a blue-colored grenade and intended to hurl it inside the office. He stated that two unidentified individuals carried out the attack and fled the scene, and they even recorded a video of the incident themselves.
He described the incident as unfortunate and said that the reaction of the Punjab Chief Minister afterward was even more disappointing. Sharma added that, by God's grace, no damage or casualties were reported.
He further informed that several BJP leaders reside in the office building, and there is also a residential area on the upper floors. He emphasized that this is the Punjab BJP office, and its security is the responsibility of the Punjab Police. Four Punjab Police personnel and four Home Guard staff are deployed there, along with additional security provided by the CRPF.
He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party wants peace and harmony to prevail in Punjab.
