Punjab to Seek Rs 1.44 Lakh Crore Water Dues and Royalty from Rajasthan, Says CM Bhagwant Mann



Chandigarh, March 18 

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday held a press conference at his residence in Chandigarh. Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian and Irrigation Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said that Rajasthan owes Punjab Rs 1.44 lakh crore for its share of river water, and added that the Punjab government has already written a letter to Rajasthan in this regard.

He said that Punjab will demand this amount from Rajasthan and will also seek royalty for the water. Mann further stated that Rajasthan had continued making payments until 1960, but no payment has been made since then.
