New Delhi, March 18
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday delivered a farewell speech in the Rajya Sabha for 37 retiring Members of Parliament.
He said that all the members who are bidding farewell to the House have made significant contributions, and some among them are being given a farewell from the House itself. He specially mentioned respected leaders such as H.D. Deve Gowda, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Sharad Pawar, saying that they have spent more than half of their lives in parliamentary work.
Modi said that other members should learn from their long experience, sense of responsibility toward society, and dedication to public service. He added that he deeply values their contribution and said that such a long public life is no small achievement.
The Prime Minister further remarked that there is no full stop in politics, and many of these members may return to the House again in the future.
