Chandigarh, March 25
A hearing was held in the High Court today regarding the Rampura Phul Block Samiti elections. Sharing this information, Shiromani Akali Dal spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kler said that the matter related to the elections of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman was presented before the court. Earlier, the Punjab government had cancelled these elections twice as the Aam Aadmi Party did not have a majority.
Now, the Hon’ble High Court has issued directions ordering that the elections will be held on April 1 under its supervision. The court has also appointed a lawyer as an independent observer for the process. The elections will be conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bathinda, ensuring complete transparency and fairness.
The High Court has also clearly directed that local MLAs and other individuals who do not have voting rights will not be allowed to enter the polling station.
This is the second time in the last two days that the High Court has issued such orders on petitions filed by the Shiromani Akali Dal.
