Amritsar, March 14
A Gurmat Samagam was organized today at the Diwan Hall of Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib, located within the complex of Sri Darbar Sahib, to mark the arrival of the New Year according to the Nanakshahi Calendar (Samvat 558). The event was organized by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the management of Sri Darbar Sahib.
Several prominent personalities attended the programme, including SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, Granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib Giani Parvinder Pal Singh Buttar, and Chief Manager Bhagwant Singh Dhangera, along with SGPC officials and employees.
On the occasion, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami extended greetings to the Sikh community on the beginning of Nanakshahi Samvat 558. He also announced a 4 percent salary increase for SGPC employees, which will come into effect from April 1.
Dhami further directed SGPC officials and staff to wear traditional attire—kurta-pajama—at least three days a week. He also instructed that employees should recite the Mool Mantar before starting their office duties in the morning.
