Moga, March 14
Union Home Minister Amit Shah began his speech with the slogan “Bole So Nihal.” He urged people to raise both hands in support of forming a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Punjab in 2027. He then raised the slogans “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.”
Shah said that if Guru Tegh Bahadur had not existed, there would have been no Hindus left in the country. The Home Minister said he wanted to begin his speech by paying tribute to the Sikh Gurus. He added that every turban he sees on people’s heads reminds him of the debt the entire nation owes to the Guru’s house.
He said that this year marks the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, who is known as “Hind Di Chadar.” Shah stated that the Guru sacrificed his life to protect the Kashmiri Pandits and their faith.
The Home Minister also said that today marks the beginning of the New Year according to the Nanakshahi Calendar and extended his greetings to the people of Punjab and the Sikh community across the world.
During his speech, Shah also put an end to speculation about an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal. He said that the BJP would form its own government in Punjab in 2027.
He further stated that if people want to free Punjab from drugs, they need a “double-engine government” of the BJP. Shah claimed that the state has been severely affected by debt, drugs, religious conversions, corruption, and gangsterism. He also alleged that industries are leaving Punjab and that farmers’ concerns are not being heard.
Shah appealed to the people to give the BJP a chance if they want to eliminate unemployment among the youth and bring development to the state.
