Ganieve Kaur Majithia Objects to Mockery in Punjab Legislative Assembly, Sparks Heated Exchange with Aam Aadmi Party Women MLAs

Chandigarh, March 10

Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia raised an objection in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, saying that when her name was mentioned in the House, members started laughing and she felt that she was being mocked.

She further said that the Chief Minister makes remarks outside the House and questioned whether calling any mother or sister “bhabhi” can be considered a sign of respect towards women.

Majithia added that the sons who die in encounters are also someone’s children and belong to mothers who deserve respect. She said that while the government talks about justice, it must also ensure dignity and respect for women.

Following her remarks, a heated exchange took place between women MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party and Ganieve Kaur Majithia in the House.
