Chandigarh, March 10
A condemnation motion was presented in the House regarding a post made by Sukhpal Singh Khaira in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. Members of the House then expressed their views on the issue.
At the end of the discussion, the Speaker conducted voting on the matter, asking members whether they wished to vote “Yes” or “No.” When the Speaker asked those supporting the motion to cast their vote, members of the ruling party loudly responded with “Yes.”
However, the opposition members refused to say “No” and remained silent. During this time, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that the opposition should clearly say either “Yes” or “No.”
The Speaker then stated that silence should not be considered as a vote. After this, the condemnation motion was declared passed in the House.
