New Delhi, March 27
Commenting on the reduction in fuel excise duty, Shiromani Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal said, “This step is truly very necessary. While the common citizen has been severely affected by the shortage of gas, establishments such as dhabas, hotels, restaurants, and wedding venues—which are heavily dependent on gas cylinders—have also been hit hard.
This situation can have a direct impact on the country’s economy and may also lead to an increase in unemployment. In particular, the growing shortage of petrol at fuel stations is bound to push up the prices of food items and other essential commodities.
The government must clarify how much stock it currently has. The people deserve answers.”
