France, March 27
UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has called for a “swift resolution” to the conflict in the Middle East and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking at a meeting of 77 foreign ministers on the outskirts of Paris, Cooper said that Iran is weakening the global economy by blocking international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most crucial waterways for oil shipments.
She stated that, frankly, Iran cannot be allowed to hold the global economy hostage through a strait that is vital for international shipping routes and the freedom of navigation.
