Congress Protests Outside BDPO Office, Calls Block Samiti Elections ‘Unconstitutional’

Machhiwara Sahib, March 16

Terming the election of the local Block Samiti Chairperson and Vice Chairperson as unconstitutional, the Congress party staged a protest outside the Block Development and Panchayat Office. The protest was led by Samrala constituency party in-charge Rupinder Singh Raja Gill.

On the occasion, Block Congress president Parminder Tiwari, Kasturi Lal Mintu, J.P. Makkar, Jagjit Singh Pirthipur and several other leaders raised their voices against the alleged high-handedness of the Aam Aadmi Party government. They termed the election of the Block Samiti Chairperson and Vice Chairperson without a majority as a “murder of democracy.”

A large number of party workers from the town as well as nearby villages were also present during the protest.
