Punjab Legislative Assembly Budget Session to Begin with Governor’s Address; Budget to Be Presented on March 8



Chandigarh, February 24

The schedule for the Budget Session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly has been announced. The session will commence with the Governor’s Address. Proceedings on the first day will begin with obituary references followed by the Governor’s speech.

There will be a holiday on March 7, and the Budget will be presented on March 8 (Sunday). This will be the first time in the history of the Punjab Legislative Assembly that the Budget Session is being held on a Sunday.

According to information received from the Assembly, a discussion will be held on the Governor’s Address and the Motion of Thanks will be moved on March 9. The Budget will be debated for two days, on March 10 and 11. During this period, MLAs from all parties will be allotted speaking time in proportion to their party strength.

Private Members’ Business will be taken up on March 12. There will be a recess from March 13 to 15. During this time, an “Invest Punjab” programme will be organised in Mohali, where investors from India and abroad will explore investment opportunities in the state.

The House will be adjourned sine die on March 16.
