Chandigarh, February 24
Speaking to reporters regarding the case registered against him, Bikram Singh Majithia said that in 2021, he along with several party leaders and workers had launched a peaceful protest against what he described as the “loot” of Punjab’s waters. He alleged that the case was registered by the Chandigarh Police under pressure from the then Chief Minister.
Expressing concern over the recent law and order situation in Punjab, Majithia said that even those attending wedding ceremonies to celebrate are being shot at. He claimed that police stations are not safe, bomb blasts are occurring in certain places, and gangsters operating from abroad are demanding extortion money from businessmen.
