Himachal Congress Leaders to Meet High Command in Delhi Over RDG and Key Political Issues

New Delhi, February 20

An important meeting of Himachal Congress leaders will be held today in New Delhi under the chairmanship of All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge. The meeting with the Congress high command is expected to deliberate on several key issues concerning Himachal Pradesh.

The discussions, to be held with Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, are likely to focus on matters such as the discontinuation of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG), Rajya Sabha election candidates, and a possible cabinet expansion.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, cabinet ministers, and the state Congress president arrived in Delhi last evening to attend the meeting. State in-charge Rajni Patil, co-incharges Chetan Chauhan and Vidit Chaudhary will also be present.

It is reported that the 16th Finance Commission has recommended the discontinuation of the RDG, which could further deepen the financial crisis in Himachal Pradesh. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has pledged to fight at every level for the restoration of the grant. The issue will first be raised with the Central Government, and if the RDG is not reinstated, the state government may also pursue legal action.
