Education Department Employees Gherao Vidya Bhawan Over Salary Cut and Regularization Delay

SAS Nagar, February 25

Office employees of the Education Department staged a protest outside Vidya Bhawan in Phase 8, Mohali, against the Punjab Government’s orders to reduce their monthly salary by ₹31,000 and for not issuing regularization orders pending since April 1, 2018.

The protesting employees gheraoed the Vidya Bhawan complex, expressing strong resentment over the decision. Union leaders stated that during meetings held on February 17–18 in the presence of the Mohali police administration, certain agreements were reached with Education Department officials. However, they alleged that the officials later backed out of those commitments, prompting the protest action.

They warned that if their demands are not accepted, they will intensify their agitation by marching towards the Chief Minister’s residence in Chandigarh after laying siege to Vidya Bhawan.
