CM Bhagwant Mann Attends Grand Finale of Kila Raipur Rural Olympics, Bullock Cart Race Revived After 12 Years

Raipur (Ludhiana), February 19

Today marks the final and most exciting day of the famous Kila Raipur Rural Olympics 2026 in Ludhiana. This year’s sporting enthusiasm is particularly special as the traditional bullock cart race is being आयोजित today after a gap of 12 years.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. On the occasion, he recalled that during his childhood, news about Kila Raipur used to be featured in the 7:30 p.m. news bulletin. He said that after coming to power, his government enacted legislation to allow the revival of bullock cart races.

Despite not being in good health, the Chief Minister said he made it a point to attend the event. He added that the pair of bullocks holds special significance in connection with Guru Nanak Dev, and that owners raise the animals like their own children. He said he did not wish to discuss politics at the event, noting that people from all political parties were present and that the मैदान belongs to everyone.

The Chief Minister further stated that his government has plugged leakages and generated funds, leading to development in villages across Punjab. He said that people can first seek treatment at government clinics, and if further care is needed, they can avail medical coverage up to ₹10 lakh through a health card. “Now no one will say that their elderly died due to lack of treatment,” he said.

He also emphasized that the government aims to build world-class infrastructure in Punjab and is actively promoting sports by providing better resources to players. “I myself am a sports enthusiast,” he added.
