Bhagwant Mann-Led Cabinet Clears Compensation for Flood-Hit Farmers; Ownership Rights for Ajnala Cultivators Soon

Ajnala, February 24

Following key decisions taken in a Punjab Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann yesterday, the process has been cleared to provide compensation to farmers whose crops were damaged on government land due to the devastating floods last year.

Sharing this information over the phone, Aam Aadmi Party Punjab’s chief spokesperson and Ajnala MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the Cabinet’s decision has brought major relief to farmers in the Ajnala constituency who were cultivating government land located across the barbed-wire fencing. All affected farmers will now receive compensation.

Dhaliwal thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, and the entire Cabinet for the decision. He stated that in Amritsar district alone, farmers have been cultivating nearly 2,800 acres of government land for a long time.

He further informed that an important online meeting was held today with Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Deputy Commissioners of various districts. The meeting focused on lands classified under ‘Panahi Kadim’, ‘Malguzar’, and ‘Muafidar’ categories. In the Ajnala Assembly constituency, approximately 10,181 kanals of such land are being cultivated by 6,344 farmers.

The Punjab government will soon grant ownership rights to all these farmers. On behalf of the farmers of the Ajnala constituency, Dhaliwal expressed special gratitude to the Chief Minister for resolving these two significant issues.
