Aam Aadmi Party Protests Outside Vijay Inder Singla’s Residence, Demands Apology from Partap Singh Bajwa Over Remarks on Harbhajan Singh ETO

Sangrur, February 13

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a district-level protest today outside the residence of Vijay Inder Singla, spokesperson of the Indian National Congress and former Punjab Cabinet Minister, against what it described as the party’s anti-Dalit attitude.

AAP has alleged that Partap Singh Bajwa, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, made derogatory remarks about Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO. Addressing the protest, District Planning Board Committee Chairman Gurmel Singh Gharachon and other leaders strongly condemned Bajwa’s comments, stating that they deserve the harshest criticism.

The speakers alleged that Congress leaders have lost their mental balance and that their anti-Dalit mindset is increasingly becoming evident. They claimed that Congress leaders have repeatedly targeted Dalit representatives—at times referring to elected members with derogatory terms and making discriminatory remarks.

On the other hand, the AAP government, they said, has been consistently promoting underprivileged youth, which they alleged is not being accepted by Congress’s affluent leadership. The speakers further stated that while Congress leaders want to keep the Dalit community suppressed, the AAP government has elevated them to high positions.

They demanded that Partap Singh Bajwa issue an immediate apology, warning that the agitation would be intensified if he fails to do so.
