Supreme Court to Hear Case on Stray Dogs Today

New Delhi, January 7 - The Supreme Court will hear a case related to stray dogs today. The matter is listed before a special bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Mehita, and N.V. Anjaria.

The case originated from the Supreme Court’s proceedings dated July 28, 2025, following the publication of a media report on rabies caused by stray dog bites in Delhi. So far, the matter has been heard five times.

On January 6, two lawyers filed another petition concerning stray dogs. While hearing the matter, a bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehita remarked that even in human-related matters, such a large number of petitions are not received.

Several petitions are scheduled for hearing today, and the remaining petitions will also be taken up during the course of the proceedings.
