New Delhi, April 2
During the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament, the Lok Sabha is set to take up discussion today on the Central Armed Police Forces (General Administration) Bill. The bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday and is expected to be introduced in the House by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai.
The proposed legislation aims to lay down rules for appointments to senior CAPF positions through deputation. However, the opposition has expressed strong objections to the bill.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore criticized the timing of its introduction, noting that it is being brought forward on a day when Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi is on a visit to Assam.
In addition, a bill proposing Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh is scheduled to be introduced in the Rajya Sabha today. The Lok Sabha had already passed this bill on Wednesday.
