US–Iran Conflict Impact: Urea Production Halted at Bathinda and Nangal Plants, Shortage May Hit Punjab Farmers

Bathinda, March 11

The impact of the US–Iran conflict has now begun to affect industries in Punjab as well. Due to this situation, urea fertilizer production has been halted at two national fertilizer plants located in Bathinda and Nangal in Punjab.

This step has been taken following a 10 percent reduction in the supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), which is used in the production of urea, by Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). With the stoppage of urea production, farmers in Punjab may face a serious shortage of urea fertilizer in the coming days.
