New Delhi, March 12
Today is the fourth day of the second phase of the Budget Session of Parliament. There is an expectation of protests by the Opposition in both Houses again today. The government and the Opposition are at loggerheads over several issues, including the recent increase in LPG cylinder prices.
The Opposition may also move a motion in both Houses of Parliament (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) today seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar from his post. According to sources, signatures of Members of Parliament have been collected to present the motion.
The second phase of the Budget Session began on Monday, and since then continuous disruptions have been witnessed in the House. On Wednesday, in the Lok Sabha, the no-confidence motion seeking the removal of Speaker Om Birla from his post was rejected through a voice vote.
