New Delhi, March 13
The Lok Sabha witnessed uproar as soon as the Question Hour began, with Opposition members creating a ruckus in the House. Opposition MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, demanded the reinstatement of eight suspended Members of Parliament.
Speaker Om Birla said that if members climbed onto the desks in the House, such disciplinary action would be taken. He added that it is everyone’s responsibility to maintain the dignity of Parliament. Following the disruption, the Lok Sabha was adjourned until 12 noon.
Earlier, Opposition parties protested inside the Parliament complex by displaying placards over the alleged LPG crisis.
On Thursday, the government had responded in the House to Opposition allegations regarding a shortage of LPG and petroleum products as well as rising prices. Hardeep Singh Puri stated that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, kerosene or aviation turbine fuel (ATF) in the country.
However, the Opposition continued its protest during Question Hour, demanding a discussion on the LPG issue and raising slogans for the reinstatement of the suspended MPs.
