Bathinda, March 2
An incident of alleged desecration of a sacred Gutka Sahib has come to light in Baba Deep Singh Nagar area of Bathinda. Upon receiving information about the incident, the local police administration, along with the Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Singh Sahib Baba Tek Singh Dhanaula, and representatives of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s Dharam Prachar Committee, reached the spot.
Jathedar Baba Tek Singh stated that early this morning he received information that some torn pages (angs) of the sacred Gutka Sahib had been scattered in the street near Gurdwara Baba Shaheed Deep Singh in Baba Deep Singh Nagar. Upon visiting the site, it was found that certain portions, including Jaap and Japji Sahib, had been desecrated.
Singh Sahib alleged that such acts are being carried out by anti-Sikh and anti-religious elements and described the incident as highly condemnable. He said that a committee has been formed to investigate the matter. He also spoke to the District Police Chief of Bathinda, urging immediate legal action and the swift identification and arrest of those responsible.
Police officials stated that separate teams have been constituted to probe the case, and CCTV cameras in the vicinity are being examined as part of the investigation.
