Amritsar, February 21
In memory of the martyrs of the 1921 Saka Nankana Sahib, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee organized a Gurmat Samagam at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall in Amritsar.
Following the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, Bhai Varinder Singh’s jatha performed Gurbani Kirtan. The Ardas was offered by Bhai Baljit Singh, and the holy Hukamnama was read out to the congregation by kathavachak Bhai Harmitter Singh.
Paying tribute to the martyrs of Saka Sri Nankana Sahib, Bhai Harmitter Singh said that Sikh forefathers made immense sacrifices to bring the management of gurdwaras into Panthic hands. He highlighted that Sikh warriors displayed remarkable courage and determination in liberating the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev from the control of corrupt mahants, which proved to be a milestone in uniting the Sikh community.
He further said that it is the duty of the community to draw inspiration from these great martyrs to strengthen its institutions and uphold Panthic responsibility. During the programme, Dhadi Bhai Gurpreet Singh’s jatha also connected the congregation with Sikh history through their rendition.
