Rahul Gandhi Slams Centre Over Trade Deal, Says Farmers Facing Crisis

New Delhi, February 11

While speaking in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said that the central government has opened the way to crush poor farmers through the trade deal. He added that no Prime Minister has ever done this before, and for the first time in history, Indian farmers are facing such a crisis.

He stated that US imports have risen from $46 billion to $146 billion. India’s tariff has increased from 3% to 18%, while theirs has dropped from 16% to zero.

He further said that if the United States wants to remain a superpower and protect its dollar, Indian data is extremely important. “Our population is a strength, but only if you understand how important data is,” he said. He added that if the INDIA bloc were negotiating with President Trump, they would have insisted that Indian data be the most important factor in the deal.
