Israel launched strikes early this morning on several cities in Iran, including the capital, Tehran. In response, Iran carried out retaliatory attacks against Israel. According to media reports, Iran fired approximately 400 missiles.
Apart from targeting Israel, Iran also reportedly struck U.S. bases in Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.
Israel is said to have targeted Iran’s Intelligence Ministry, Defense Ministry, the office of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. Following the attacks, Khamenei was reportedly moved to a secure location.
Israel has named its new campaign against Iran “Roar of the Lion.” According to available information, this is described as a joint military operation between the United States and Israel. The strikes occurred amid ongoing talks between Iran and the United States regarding nuclear weapons.
U.S. President Donald Trump had earlier warned of possible action against Iran. He stated that the objective of the operation is to protect the United States and its citizens from potential threats.
According to Trump, the U.S. military is attempting to destroy Iran’s missiles and dismantle its missile program.
