India Meteorological Department Forecasts Rain, Thunderstorms in 13 Punjab Districts; Strong Winds and Hail Likely



Chandigarh, February 18

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), through its Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, has forecast rainfall in 13 districts of Punjab today. The department has also warned of strong winds, lightning, and the possibility of hailstorms in some areas.

The maximum temperature in Punjab is currently 3.2 degrees Celsius above normal. Mansa recorded the highest temperature at 29.2 degrees Celsius. Clear weather is expected from February 19 to 23.

According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorms and lightning are likely at isolated places in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Moga, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Patiala, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, and Mansa districts today. Wind speeds may range between 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.

Light to moderate rainfall is expected at some locations in these districts. Over the next 48 hours, the minimum temperature is likely to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. Thereafter, a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is expected during the following two days. No significant change in temperature is anticipated after that.
