Harpal Singh Cheema Says Constitution Has Prevailed, Slams BJP Over Delhi Excise Case Acquittals

Chandigarh, February 27

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, while addressing a press conference here today, expressed happiness and said that the Constitution of B. R. Ambedkar has prevailed today. He stated that while defending the truth enshrined in the Constitution, Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and other colleagues were falsely implicated by the CBI and other agencies through fabricated cases. He added that the face of the BJP has been exposed before the public.

Cheema said that the truth behind the so-called liquor scam, under which the Aam Aadmi Party supremo and other leaders were jailed, has now come before the world. He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party made every attempt to defame a party that was formed to fight corruption and uphold honesty.

He further stated that all central agencies, including the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), have been rejected by the honorable court for lack of evidence. Referring to the court’s observations, he said that responsibility should also be fixed on the officers who conducted the investigation.

Cheema added that granting a clean chit to Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Durgesh Pathak, and 23 others raises serious accountability questions for the BJP, alleging that false cases were used to malign the Aam Aadmi Party. He also claimed that the same excise policy termed a “scam” by the BJP government has generated crores of rupees in profit for Punjab’s treasury.
