Jalandhar, February 13
Additional Director of the Enforcement Directorate, Ravi Tiwari, has been transferred in connection with the summons issued to former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. According to reports, the action was taken following the alleged leak of a closure report. Sources indicated that the BJP-led central government treated the matter seriously and ordered the transfer as a strict measure against the officer concerned. Tiwari was reportedly the official who had issued the summons to Amarinder Singh.
The Enforcement Directorate is allegedly investigating Amarinder Singh and his son Raninder Singh for suspected violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and undisclosed foreign assets. The probe is primarily focused on transactions linked to trusts in Switzerland and the British Virgin Islands. Courts have granted the agency access to income records obtained through international treaties.
Earlier, Amarinder Singh had been admitted to Fortis Hospital after complaining of persistent knee pain that was affecting his mobility. He was hospitalized a day earlier, and a team of specialist doctors successfully performed knee replacement surgery. Following the operation, he was shifted to the ICU as a precaution to ensure close monitoring. Anil Vij also visited the hospital to inquire about his health.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Parchuri has been appointed as the new Additional Director of the Enforcement Directorate, replacing Ravi Tiwari.
