New Delhi, February 11
Sources in the Lok Sabha Secretariat have informed that deficiencies have been found in the notice submitted by opposition Members of Parliament seeking the removal of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The notice mentions incidents from February 2025, on the basis of which it could have been rejected as per the rules. However, the Speaker has directed the Secretariat to rectify the shortcomings in the notice and proceed with further action.
Om Birla has instructed that the matter be handled expeditiously in accordance with the rules. The notice will be listed after the commencement of the second phase of the Budget Session. Once the revised notice is received, it will be examined promptly as per the prescribed procedures.
