Chandigarh, February 25
The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government is fighting a strong and determined battle against gangsterism, which it claims grew and flourished during the tenure of the alliance government of the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
This was stated today by Baltej Pannu, Chief Media Advisor of the Aam Aadmi Party, at the party’s headquarters in Sector 39, Chandigarh. He also alleged that an entire generation of Punjab had been devastated by drug abuse, particularly “chitta.”
Commenting on a statement by Sukhbir Singh Badal, Pannu said that while Badal talks about declaring gangsters as terrorists during his rallies, he fails to explain when and under whose regime such elements emerged.
He also responded to remarks by Sunil Jakhar, saying that Jakhar had neither effectively fought for farmers’ crop issues nor for Punjab’s water rights.
Pannu added that the Mann government has been providing numerous benefits to the people of Punjab, including 600 units of free electricity, improved healthcare facilities, better schools, and other public welfare measures, which he said have been delivered under the Aam Aadmi Party government.
