Tehran (Iran), April 3
Reuters reported that satellite imagery from the European Union’s Copernicus Sentinel-2 showed smoke rising from a port in Qeshm, Iran. Reuters verified the location by matching the port layout with file images and satellite data. The date was also confirmed through satellite imagery, supporting reports of the attack from Qeshm Free Zone authorities and Iranian media.
Officials from the Qeshm Free Zone stated that parts of the Bahman commercial port and the Doha fishing pier on Qeshm Island were damaged following what were described as U.S.-Israeli strikes targeting port facilities between the evening of April 1 and the afternoon of April 2.
Iran’s news agency reported that there were no casualties in the attack. Mansour Azimzadeh Ardebili, Deputy Head of the Qeshm Free Zone, said that Bahman port is entirely commercial, and targeting it violates international regulations.
