Sri Muktsar Sahib, April 2
Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur visited various villages in Sri Muktsar Sahib district to assess the damage caused by heavy hailstorms. During her visit, she met affected farmers in villages Lakhewali, Lakkarwala, Sherawala, Nandgarh, Gandharh, Bhulerian, and Bhagsar, and reviewed the losses to their crops.
The Cabinet Minister directed the officials present on the spot to immediately conduct girdawari (crop damage assessment) and ensure that compensation is provided to the affected farmers at the earliest. She also took seriously the demand raised by farmers regarding pending compensation and assured them that the matter would be pursued, adding that a report in this regard would be received in the coming days.
Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that the Punjab Government stands firmly with farmers and affected families, and every possible assistance will be ensured. She emphasized that the government is committed to helping every affected family above party lines.
On this occasion, Jasandeep Brar, District President (AAP) and Chairman Market Committee Malout, Chairman Cooperative Bank Sri Muktsar Sahib Simarjeet Singh Brar, PA Arsh Sidhu, PA Chhinderpal Singh, along with officials of concerned departments and other dignitaries, were present.
