Amritsar, April 1
Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has criticized the central government’s decision to impose an entry fee of ₹200 per person on Sikh pilgrims crossing the border to visit gurdwaras in Pakistan.
Speaking to the media, Dhami said that Sikh jathas travel to Pakistan four times a year for pilgrimage to historic gurdwaras. He added that another जत्था is scheduled to be sent soon on the occasion of Vaisakhi (Khalsa Sajna Diwas).
He termed the imposition of the ₹200 entry fee as unfortunate and said it has hurt the sentiments of Sikh devotees. Dhami urged the central government to immediately withdraw this fee.
