Parliament May Revoke Suspension of 8 Opposition MPs as Budget Session Continues

New Delhi, March 17

Today marks the seventh day of the second phase of the Budget Session of Parliament. The suspension of eight Opposition Members of Parliament, who were suspended during the first phase, may be revoked today.

According to sources, a consensus on this issue was reached during an all-party meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Sources further stated that a proposal to revoke the suspension of the MPs will be brought before Parliament on Tuesday.

During the meeting, it was also decided that Members of Parliament would refrain from using placards and AI-generated images inside the House and would maintain the dignity of the proceedings.

The eight MPs were suspended from the Lok Sabha on February 4 for the entire Budget Session. They were accused of throwing papers towards the Chair of Speaker Krishna Prasad Tenneti during a ruckus in the House. The disruption occurred when Rahul Gandhi was referring to the 2020 India-China border tensions in eastern Ladakh during his address in the House.
