Former IAS Officer K.J.S. Cheema Joins Shiromani Akali Dal

Chandigarh, March 19

Former IAS officer K.J.S. Cheema joined the Shiromani Akali Dal today. He was inducted into the party by SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

In a tweet issued on the occasion, Sukhbir Singh Badal said it was a matter of pride that a senior retired IAS officer like K.J.S. Cheema had joined the Shiromani Akali Dal.

He said that Cheema, who hails from Moonak, has had a distinguished career. He served for 10 years as the Special Principal Secretary to former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. Apart from this, he also held various administrative positions in the Punjab government for seven years.

Cheema also served in important positions at the Centre and in other states, including five years as Secretary to the then Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and four years as Additional Chief Secretary to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Sukhbir Badal further said that as a former Captain in the Indian Army, Cheema carries a strong sense of discipline and dedication in his character. He expressed confidence that Cheema’s qualities would prove to be a great strength for the Akali Dal.

He warmly welcomed Cheema to the Shiromani Akali Dal and thanked him for choosing Punjab’s only regional party, which has a 105-year-old record of service and sacrifice. He said the party would greatly benefit from Cheema’s vast knowledge and extensive administrative experience.

If you want, I can also turn this into a more polished newspaper-style English report with a sharper headline and intro.
