Trade unions and farmers’ organizations staged protests and sit-ins here today. Although the call for a market shutdown received limited response, leaders of trade and farmers’ unions held a demonstration outside the SDM office and raised loud slogans in support of their demands.
Speakers from various groups demanded the withdrawal of the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025, a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP), measures to curb rising inflation, and a waiver of loans for farmers and workers. A large number of women leaders, along with farmer and trade union representatives, were also present on the occasion.
