Section 295-A Case Filed Against Hotel Mariton Partners in Jalandhar Amid Religious Sentiment Row

Jalandhar, February 14

The controversy surrounding Hotel Mariton in Jalandhar has intensified. A case has been registered under Section 295-A against five individuals, including hotel partners Yashpal Dua, Gulshan Dua, Umesh Dua, and Shivi Dua.

According to the police, the आरोप relate to actions during a dispute that allegedly hurt religious sentiments. The case was registered based on a complaint, and investigations are ongoing. Police officials said all aspects of the matter are being examined in detail. Following the registration of the case, the accused have reportedly absconded.

Reports suggest that Yashpal Dua was scheduled to hold a press conference at 10 a.m., but it was cancelled after news of the case emerged. Earlier, late Friday evening, the other party in the dispute, Dr. Paramjit Marwaha — who was allegedly assaulted — had lodged a complaint with the police and informed Akal Takht Sahib and Sikh organizations.

Dr. Paramjit Marwaha stated that Hotel Mariton has six owners. He holds a 36 percent share, along with an additional 15 percent, and serves as the Managing Director with a 51 percent stake. He alleged that Yashpal Dua, who owns a 5 percent share, was attempting to impose his conditions on him. When he refused, Dua allegedly assaulted him under the influence of alcohol. He further claimed that his son was also beaten, his turban was removed, and derogatory language relating to religion was used against them.
