Chandigarh, February 16
The weather in Punjab and Chandigarh is set to change from tonight. Rain and thunderstorms are likely over the next two days, February 17 and 18.
For the first time this year, the temperature in February has crossed 29 degrees Celsius. Firozpur recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state. Over the past 24 hours, both minimum and maximum temperatures have increased by 1 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature was recorded at 3.9 degrees above normal.
During the next two days, night temperatures are expected to rise further by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, strong western winds are blowing and a new western disturbance has become active, leading to a change in weather conditions across North India.
