New Delhi, February 10
BJP women Members of Parliament have written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla demanding strict action against the chaos created during the protest when opposition MPs allegedly entered the Well of the House and approached the Prime Minister’s seat.
In their letter, the BJP women MPs urged the Speaker to take the strongest possible action under the rules against opposition members who engaged in what they described as “disgraceful acts” inside the House.
They wrote, “We would like to express our deep gratitude and appreciation for the exemplary manner in which you upheld and protected the dignity, decorum, and sanctity of the Lok Sabha during the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Hon’ble President’s Address on February 4, 2026.”
The letter further stated that the entire House—and indeed the whole country—witnessed one of the most unfortunate and regrettable incidents inside the Lok Sabha chamber that day. Opposition members were seen not only entering the Well of the House but also climbing onto the Speaker’s table, tearing papers, and throwing them towards the Chair.
It also noted with concern that some women members behaved aggressively, carrying banners and placards while crossing over to the other side. They allegedly surrounded the Prime Minister’s seat and entered the Treasury benches, where senior ministers are seated.
“We therefore request you to take the strictest action under the rules against those opposition MPs who committed such disgraceful acts within the House premises and brought disrepute to our democratic institutions,” the letter said.
